Deodorization
Deodorization
Biological nutrient purification (B/N)
The different bioreactor models developed by AERIS for the deodorization of contaminated air are, compared to equivalent physical-chemical technologies, a highly reliable and economical alternative. The high efficiency of these bioreactors allows the total deodorization of the gaseous stream, without addition of chemicals.
The advantages offered by biological processes over traditional alternatives are:
- Significant operation savings
- Efficiency > 99%.
- Minimal or no chemical reagents
- Minimal or no consumption of mains water
- No production of secondary contaminants
- Minimal maintenance requirements
Most of the technologies proposed for this function correspond to customized designs of conventional biofilters, biotrickling filter or bioscrubbers.
Conventional biofilters are beds filled with a highly stable organic material and colonized by microorganisms capable of metabolizing odorous compounds. High sensorization guarantees their durability and efficiency.
Biotrickling filters also consist of a single reactor in which specific microorganisms grow, in this case with a continuous recirculation of liquid. In this reactor, the dissolution of odorous compounds and their biological oxidation take place simultaneously.
Finally, bioscrubbers are composed of two separate reactors. In the first one, an absorption tower, the odorous compounds are transferred to the liquid phase. This liquid phase is then fed to a second reactor, in this case a biological reactor, in which the odorous compounds are biologically oxidized.
