SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 moves forward towards circular and efficient water management in the tourism sector
The SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 project, co-funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism and led by the Catalan Water Partnership, enters its third and final phase of experimental development. The overall aim of the project is to research and develop innovative digital solutions that enable more efficient and sustainable water cycle management in tourist establishments.
Among its specific objectives is the goal of minimizing the environmental impact of effluents generated by these establishments, promoting the integration of new technologies that encourage water reuse and drive the circular economy.
Thanks to the collaboration with Hotel Samba, an innovative pilot-scale water treatment and management technology (AnMBr) will be implemented. This technology has already been studied and optimized in previous laboratory-scale phases by Aeris Tecnologías Ambientales. Its operation in a real environment will validate its feasibility as an alternative to conventional treatment systems, with the goal of improving water use efficiency, facilitating reuse, and generating biogas as an energy resource.
This phase will also validate a Cloud-based decision support platform, which integrates water and energy data to improve resource management efficiently and sustainably. The platform will be tested in a pilot tourist establishment, in collaboration with Hotel Samba, which helped identify the solution’s functional requirements.
The SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 project includes the participation of AERIS Tecnologías Ambientales, LENTE Ingenieros, Ulbios, Nexmachina, and the GAIA cluster.
