N removal in the presence of heavy metals
Scope: Tannery |
Results: High ammonium and chromium concentrations in an industrial effluent commonly led to malfunctioning in the biological process of a WWTP. In order to optimize this treatment, a redistribution of the operation sequence of the biological reactors was developed, which allowed for the efficient biological elimination of nitrogen at temperatures below 15 ° C, even in the presence of toxic/inhibitory compounds. |
