DECISIVE: Decentralized urban bio-waste management system
Starts the operation of the solid-state fermentation pilot plant to obtain biopesticides within the framework of the DECISIVE project at the Consorci per a Gestió dels Residus del Vallès Oriental facilities
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Aeris Tecnologias Ambientales have just signed an agreement with El Consorci per a Gestió dels Residus del Vallès Oriental to carry out a pilot test within the framework of the European H2020 project named DECISIVE. With the sludge from the waste plant it is pretend to create a biopesticide as a value product. The researchers from Aeris which participates in this European project will be at the Vallès Oriental waste plant for a few months to develop the pilot test. To carry out the test, they have designed a solid-state fermentation pilot plant.
The total budget of DECISIVE project is more than 7 million euros and the consortium are composed by 13 partners from different countries. The goal is to develop a decentralized organic waste management system, which allows reducing and valuing urban food waste, converting it into bioproducts and net energy that can be used locally.
